Malta House Celebrates 25 Years of Empowering Homeless and At-Risk Pregnant and Parenting Moms

[Norwalk, CT, December 18, 2023] - In a milestone achievement, on December 8, 2023, Malta House joyously celebrated its 25th anniversary of dedication to providing hope and support to homeless and at-risk pregnant and parenting mothers with a beautiful mass followed by a reception. At the reception, Malta House celebrated the founders of the organization and enjoyed current and former moms talking about the impact Malta House had on their lives. “It was so nice to share how much I love living at Malta House. My son and I are doing so well because of all the support we receive every day,” said a current Malta Mom. 

Since opening its doors in 1998, Malta House has been a beacon of compassion, offering a lifeline to vulnerable pregnant and parenting mothers facing the challenges of homelessness.

The vision for Malta House came when a young father learned that there was no safe place for pregnant women in Fairfield County who chose life for their unborn. These vulnerable young families often lived in substandard conditions or with an abusive partner and had nowhere to turn for safety and support. Through hard work, compassion, empowerment, and community, Malta House emerged as a vital resource for pregnant and parenting women at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Over the past 25 years, the organization has become a cornerstone in the Norwalk area, breaking the cycle of despair and offering a haven of support to mothers and their children.

 “Having worked in the social services field for most of my career, I am extremely excited that my career has led me to be the new Executive Director of Malta House,” said Lisa Casagrande Koeppel. “Being here during the 25th Anniversary Celebration and seeing the excitement of our staff, volunteers, and moms, both past and present, is a testament to the impact this organization has had over the years and makes me excited to be a part of the future of Malta House.”
