Since 1998 we’ve helped almost 700 mothers and children who are homeless and pregnant, facing an unplanned pregnancy, or who are new mothers dealing with other difficult situations.
We understand you are coming to us when you are feeling most vulnerable – alone, afraid, dealing with unstable housing, or maybe for some other reason. We are here for you and your baby. Come find a haven of hope at Malta House.
Malta House provides a home and loving support system for those who are struggling with an unplanned pregnancy or who are new mothers of an infant or young baby. We offer homeless pregnant women and their children a family setting where they can grow emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Our hearts and home are open and ready to help you.
We’re committed to you and your unborn child's health, well-being, and medical care. Our goal is to provide you with the resources you need to be a confident parent and achieve stable housing.
Education on topics such as health, nutrition, parenting, and child development are provided so you can be the best parent possible.

Our Residential Program focuses on supporting a mother in areas of:
We strive to empower our new mothers. We’ll help you to develop the life skills necessary for making good decisions, managing stress, and building positive relationships. Our mothers who work hard at these skills grow into a greater sense of acceptance and self-worth.
Personal finance and budgeting advice is offered to promote self-sufficiency. We’ll also help you with your education and career so you can gain financial independence and security.
Other ways we help our mothers include:
Malta House is founded upon our core values as Catholics: that every life is precious and is a gift from God. At Malta House, we offer opportunities for spiritual growth through classes with our chaplain as well as personal time in our chapel. However, we welcome women of any faith or no faith. All are welcome here!
Our staff and volunteers share fellowship and friendship with residents each month through liturgy and supper. After Mass, we get together for a family dinner where you can learn more about our mission and witness for yourself the spirit of Malta House.
Our lovely chapel is open to all, offering a beautiful and peaceful place for prayer and reflection. You are offered opportunities to develop your relationship with God and learn to seek His support with the challenges you will face in your new vocation as a mother.
Malta House residents, graduates, and their children witness expressions of God’s love for them through the compassion of our staff, volunteers, and benefactors.
Malta House is a nonprofit that provides hope and a safe haven for expectant mothers who are struggling with unplanned pregnancies.
We are the only transitional living program in the state of Connecticut where a mom can stay with her baby for long-term support and a "hand-up" as she journeys to independence and hope.
We have welcomed close to 700 pregnant women and their babies to our home since opening our doors in 1998. And we’re ready to welcome you and your baby as well!
