Malta House, a beacon of hope and support for pregnant or parenting mothers in need, is delighted to announce a year of outstanding accomplishments and community engagement in 2023. Under the leadership of our new executive director, Lisa Casagrande Koeppel (who joined Malta House in July) and with the support of our dedicated staff and Board, the past year has been marked by significant milestones, heartfelt celebrations, and an unwavering commitment to our mission.

In 2023, Malta House welcomed its 400th baby since opening its doors, and this past summer, with the help of two dedicated volunteers, Malta House opened its Wellness Room. This room provides a private space for moms to receive wellness education and work with dedicated medical professionals to navigate the stages of child development, discuss general medical concerns, and learn preventative healthcare options.

On December 8, 2023, Malta House proudly celebrated its 25th Anniversary. A quarter-century of service has seen the organization positively impact countless lives, providing shelter, resources, and a supportive community for mothers and their children. The anniversary mass and celebration were a testament to the resilience of the women we serve and the enduring spirit of Malta House. Guests were blessed to hear from a graduate mom who, because of the love and support she received during her time in the Residential Program, has been able to provide a life for her and her son that she could have never imagined. After graduating from the program seven years ago, she has been able to maintain her safe and independent housing. She is successfully employed as a home health aide, and her children are successful students at local charter schools. It is only because of our generous supporters that Malta House was able to provide her with the building blocks of success.

The overwhelming generosity of our community magnified the joy of the holiday season. Thanks to the support of our donors, volunteers, and partners, Malta House provided a warm and festive atmosphere for the mothers and children in our care. In addition to the in-house moms and babies, generous supporters adopted nine of our Malta House graduate families and helped over 50 families in our community have a magical Christmas. The outpouring of love during this season exemplifies the spirit of giving that defines Malta House and its supporters. Malta House extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to our success in 2023. Your generosity has made a tangible difference in the lives of mothers and children facing homelessness. Whether through financial contributions, volunteer efforts, or spreading awareness, your support is the driving force behind Malta House's ability to provide the support and services needed to help our moms and babies.

Looking ahead in 2024, Malta House is excited to expand its support for our moms with a new workforce development program. This program will provide our Residential and Graduate moms with the tools and skills to focus on long-term careers. With the help of professionals in our community, we will ensure that our moms and babies can live independent lives by offering them the skills to have meaningful careers that they can grow and thrive in. Since its inception, Malta House has strived to instill that every mom who walks through our doors can and will be successful. Hard work and dedication to the program will enable them to reach any goal they have set for themselves. A current resident is doing just that - she has worked up to become a restaurant manager and is furthering her education to become a medical assistant. We are incredibly proud that she is reaching her goals and setting herself up to be successful for her and her son.
