Malta House, a nonprofit organization based in Connecticut, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Founded in 1996, Malta House has provided a safe and supportive home for pregnant and parenting young women facing homelessness and crises. Over the past 25 years, the organization has empowered close to 800 women and children to achieve stability, independence, and success through its comprehensive programs and services.
From its inception as a Residential Program for pregnant and parenting mothers, Malta House has expanded to serve both former residents and the wider community.
In the past year alone, 27 babies and 29 mothers found life, safety, love, and "home" at Malta House. This is a testament to the dedication of the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to create a nurturing environment for all who come through the doors.
In addition to the Residential Program, Malta House has continued to support mothers and their children who have "graduated" and are living independently in the community. This includes offering love and support to 52 children of mothers who are at Malta House and providing childcare services for 13 babies and toddlers in our nursery in FY2022.
Malta House has also expanded its reach beyond its walls through the Community Outreach Program, which last year provided essentials to 85 moms and 172 children from low-income families throughout Fairfield County. This program has significantly impacted the community, helping families in need access the resources they need to thrive.
At Malta House, residents receive housing and access to healthcare, education, job training, and life skills development. The organization's staff and volunteers work closely with each resident to create a personalized plan for their goals and needs. Malta House has helped countless mothers build a brighter future.
As Malta House celebrates this milestone anniversary, it is important to acknowledge the organization's impact on the lives of the families it serves. Without Malta House, many of these young mothers and their children would be at risk of homelessness, poverty, and lack of support. Instead, they have found a place that believes in their potential, supporting them every step of the way.
The success of Malta House is not only due to its dedicated staff and volunteers but also to the generosity of its donors and supporters. Over the years, individuals and organizations have contributed funds, time, and resources to help Malta House continue its important work. Without their support, Malta House could not provide the high-quality services and programs that are available.
Malta House will be celebrating its 25th anniversary on May 12th during its annual Spring Gala. The event will be a celebration of the organization's achievements and an opportunity to renew its commitment to serving the community's most vulnerable members. By attending the event, guests can learn more about Malta House's mission, connect with staff and volunteers, and support the organization's ongoing work.
As Malta House marks its 25th anniversary, it's clear that the organization has come a long way from its beginnings as a Residential Program. With its continued growth and commitment to serving the community, Malta House is poised to make an even more significant impact in the years to come.
